How do I fix SMTP error in Outlook?

Outlook Cannot Connect to Outgoing

If Outlook cannot connect to the outgoing SMTP server, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Internet Connection:

Ensure your device has a stable internet connection. Restart your router or switch to another network if necessary.

2. Verify SMTP Settings:

Go to File > Account Settings > Server Settings in Outlook. Verify the SMTP server address , port number (usually 587 or 465), and encryption method (TLS or SSL). Ensure that the username and password are correct.

3. Check Antivirus or Firewall Settings:

Your antivirus or firewall might block Outlook’s access to the SMTP server. Temporarily disable them to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, add an exception for Outlook in your security software.

4. Test the SMTP Server:

Use a different email client or webmail to send an email using the same SMTP settings. This will help identify if the problem is with Outlook or the server.

5. Update or Reinstall Outlook:

Ensure Outlook is up-to-date. If the issue persists, consider reinstalling it to reset any corrupted settings.

These steps should help resolve the SMTP connection issue with Outlook. Fix Outlook SMTP error
